Web Quest Reflection

I really enjoyed the web quest. It was a actually a lot of fun and I learned a lot from the experience. I believe this a great idea to incorporate in the classroom. I may use this to have my students create their own fitness programs. I will also use web quest in the classroom to have my students research the topic of obesity. With this topic the students will have to research and come up with solutions to the problem and provide a program to prevent obesity.
This assignment went very well. Adam, Melissa, and I got along well and were on the same page. We all contributed equally and everyone had great inputs. I can't think of anything that went wrong with the assignment, it went smooth and was a lot of fun. I believe working with a team was effective because everyone contributed their own ideas and it was fun bringing those ideas together to put together a plan. I believe working with Adam and Melissa went so well because we are all physical education majors. All of our ideas were similar and we agreed about everything. I don' think I would change anything if I did this assignment again. Everything went really well. I believe if I had to work with students with different majors I believe the experience would be a little more difficult because of the different thinking skills we might have. If I choose to teach my future students about web quest though I need to have a little more practice and experience to effectively help my students create their own web quests. I believe working with a team was easy, but to do it alone will be a little more difficult. I believe attending classes and technology workshops in the future will be a great idea to help me understand effective strategies to teach technology in the classroom. I know there will be technology professors in the school I will be teaching at and I believe asking them for ideas would also be a great idea.

Here are my six articles of technology I have researched:

Juniu, S. (2006). Use of Technology for Constructivist Learning in a Performance Assessment Class. Measurementin Physical Education & Exercise Science. Volume: 1, Issue: 1, Pages 67(13).
This was a good article and it talks about the effectives uses of technology. The article discusses the use of technology and when and in what way it is appropriate to use in the classroom setting. It discusses how computers are a tool aid to help students better understand, create, and work with information. The purpose of the article is to figure out different ways students can use technology in a physical education class to effectively evaluate their performances.

Hayes, E: Silberman, L (2007). Incorporating Video Games Into Physical Education. JOPERD: The Journal of Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. Volume: 78, Issue: 3, Pages: 18(7).
The article focuses on ways of enjoying physical educations through technology uses. The article talks about the new gaming systems such as the nintendo wii which enhances physical acitivity at the same time is enjoyable. Many youth are inactive because its too hard or boring. But with the new gaming systems such as the wii or other technology uses the article discusses more children are more likely to be motivated in participating in physical activities. The article also mentions that it doesn't only enhance phsyical activity but also helps with the cognitive aspects of learning.

Dorman, S. (2001-02). Are Teachers Using Computers for Instruction? Journal of School Health. Volume: 71, Issue: 2, Pages: 83(2).
This article focuses on the use of computers through instruction. It gives statistics of what percentage of teachers are using computers for teaching on also percentage of teachers who have access to computers. The article discusses the importance of technology being used in the Health class. It talks about how training and preparation for teachers is critical in helping students learn and be successful in the health class. Through technology many important things can be learned by the students and teachers in the health classroom.

Mathes, L. (2007). Train to Treasures. Arts and Activities. Volume: 142, Issue: 3, Pages: 36(2).
This article is about a California High School Class that practices the use of technology as an artistic tool. The students in the class were given a digital camera and asked to take a picture of a trash can. After taking the picture they were to examine the photo and note the shadows, reflections, angles and other descriptions of the picture. This is a great way to use technology especially in the field I am going into, which is Physical Education.

Baumann, M. (2007). Slimming Down with Wii Sports. Information Today. Volume: 24, Issue: 4, Pages: 47(0).
This article discusses the effective use of the new video system Nintendo Wii. It talks about how it is an effecitive way to be physically active and can be useful for weight loss. It discusses the different kinds of games the Wii provides and he effectiveness of them. This can be an effective technology use for physical education teachers to use inside and outside of class to motivate students to be physically active.

Dal Ballo, A.; Knowlton, E.; Chaffin, J. (2007). Interactive Videoconferencing as a Medium for Special Education: Knowledge Acquisition in Preservice Teacher Education. Intervention in School & Clinic. Volume: 43, Issue: 1, Pages: 38(9).
This article discusse a variety of ways to use technology in Special Education. The technology used here is known as IVC (Interactive Videoconferencing) which provides the opportunity for audio and video communication between teacher and student via computer and digital phones. It talks about how this strategy is a great way for teaching and learning enhancement. The article discusses that through IVC teachers can see and find out more about students with disabilities beyond the classroom setting. Everyone involved with IVC has had a positive experience.
